What a cool awesome cute lil car. They really really should've sold a non-hybrid version as a CRX.
I think the manual versions a had lean burn mode that the automatics didn't (the Civic VX and HX also had lean burn). Another problem is that most of the stick buyers would subject the batteries to extreme charge/discharge cycles for hypermiling, thus severely shortening the battery life.

I see quite a few of these every month! They are so cool.
Drive the fuel efficient car for boring tasks and to work and drive the specified fun car for fun things!!!

That's kind of dumb, trying to hypermile a battery...your mileage would still be the same lol

Wat.
You discharge the battery for more EV use and then use hills or other things to charge it. It's a very good method to increase fuel economy.

Well not hypermiling a battery per se, but rather, making the battery kick in more than it should, or something like that

They're still my favorite hybrid (not counting things like the Owen Magnetic). I think the secret for hybrid coolness is making them as spaceship-like as possible.

Yes, that's good! But there should be a point to which the car shouldn't be running on such a low amount of juice. EV owners need to realize there are limits
edit: by hypermiling I meant you still have to recharge it when you can't get more juice out of it or say to yourself "okay I need to recharge it." idk where i'm going with this anymore

I agree, these are way cooler than the Prius. Too bad Honda's second take at the Insight was more blah than the Prius though...

Did you happen to see it flipping endlessly at 175 miles per hour?
The last one I saw did that.

I think the idea was too Mead-esque for the road. I think when they go that route they tend to have cool ideas, eighth Civic for example.

I bet that motor could take some boost and that would make one of these a rocket ship as they weigh under 1,900lbs.

I actually as strongly attracted to the idea of one of these Insights with a K24 swap and associated 6 speed...

Most hybrids don't let the battery SOC drop below a certain percentage and it doesn't charge past a certain percentage and it doesn't let you charge at a certain rate all to maintain battery life.
